A disturbing incident has come to light in Kanpur, where a cricket coach has been accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl who was learning the sport under his supervision. The coach, a resident of Gangaganj, allegedly lured the minor to his colony after coaching classes and drugged her before sexually assaulting her. This heinous act was repeated for two months, during which the coach also blackmailed the girl with social ostracization and hurled caste-based slurs to intimidate her.
The girl finally confided in her mother, who filed a complaint at the Panki police station. An FIR has been lodged against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and other relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police are conducting raids to track down the accused, who is currently absconding.
This incident is particularly shocking as it involves a person in a position of trust, a coach who was supposed to guide and protect the young girl. Instead, he exploited his position to commit this heinous crime. The fact that he also used blackmail and caste-based slurs to intimidate the girl makes it even more disturbing.
The police have assured that they will do everything in their power to catch the accused and bring him to justice. The additional deputy commissioner of police (Addl. DCP), central, Vijyendra Dwivedi, has stated that the police are taking this case very seriously and are working to ensure that the accused is punished for his crimes.
This incident is not an isolated one, unfortunately. There have been other cases of abuse and molestation in educational and extracurricular settings in Kanpur. Just recently, a music teacher at a reputed school in the Gujaini area was accused of molesting a four-year-old student. These incidents highlight the need for greater vigilance and safety measures to be put in place to protect children from such abuse.
The community is in shock and outrage over this incident, and many are demanding justice for the young girl and her family. The police have urged anyone with information about the accused to come forward and help them in their investigation.
