CBI Raids 10 Locations in Delhi-NCR Over Rs 117 Crore Cyber Fraud Case

Date:

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids at 10 locations across Delhi and the surrounding areas on Wednesday, in connection with a case of transnational cyber-enabled financial frauds amounting to Rs 117 crore. The action follows an ongoing investigation based on a complaint filed by the Union Home Ministry’s Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C).

According to officials, the FIR alleges that a network of unidentified organized cybercriminals, possibly with foreign links, was involved in large-scale financial fraud across India. The investigation has so far revealed that the fraudsters, operating from overseas, use digital platforms such as websites, WhatsApp, and Telegram to target victims in India.

The criminals reportedly attract individuals through fraudulent schemes, including part-time job offers, task-based scams, and promises of high returns on initial investments. Once victims deposit funds, the money is swiftly moved through a complex network of “mule accounts,” making it difficult to trace the origins of the funds.

During the raids, which were carried out in Gurugram and various locations in Delhi, the CBI seized incriminating evidence, including electronic devices and financial records, from the premises of 10 individuals suspected of being involved in the scam.
