BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis visited Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde on Tuesday to check on his health. The meeting, which lasted for 30 minutes, was seen as significant just days before the finalization of the power-sharing formula and the upcoming oath-taking ceremony scheduled for December 5 at Azad Maidan in Mumbai. Sources suggest that Shinde is insistent on retaining the Home Ministry portfolio, a position also coveted by the BJP.
Earlier in the day, Shinde visited a private hospital in Thane for a health check-up, just two days before the grand swearing-in ceremony. Shinde, who had been staying at his Thane residence recently, assured the media that his health was improving. “I came for a check-up. My health is in good condition,” he told reporters as he left for Varsha, the official residence of the Chief Minister in Mumbai.
Health Concerns Amid Political Uncertainty
Shinde has been dealing with throat issues, fever, and an infection, which led to weakness. As a precaution, he underwent an MRI scan. His health concerns have been making headlines, especially as his recent visit to his village in Satara district fueled rumors about his dissatisfaction with the ongoing government formation process.
Despite these health issues, preparations for the December 5 swearing-in ceremony continue. The event is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with 2,000 VVIPs and around 40,000 supporters. Key dignitaries, including Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda, are also expected to be present.
Maharashtra’s New Government: Anticipation Builds
The landslide victory of the Mahayuti coalition in the November 20 elections has set the stage for the formation of Maharashtra’s new government on December 5. Devendra Fadnavis, a former Chief Minister, is considered a strong contender for the top position.
With key positions still under negotiation, political tensions remain high. The outcome of these discussions will play a crucial role in shaping Maharashtra’s political future.
