The Karimuddinpur police have arrested members of a gang that duped families by arranging fake marriages and then robbing the groom’s side. The arrested group includes five women and three men, totaling eight accused. The police have filed cases against them under relevant sections and have sent them to court.
In this regard, the Karimuddinpur police reported that the gang involved in orchestrating fake marriages and robbing the groom’s side was arrested from two locations within the police jurisdiction: Bathor and Parasa villages in the Muhammadabad area. The gang lured Rupesh Shakya and his relatives, residents of Ishwarpur village in the Dannahar area of Mainpuri district, to Karimuddinpur, where they orchestrated a fake marriage.
The gang had presented the bride (a woman from the gang) as a Rajbhar, providing a fake Aadhar card, and conducted the marriage with Rupesh on November 30. In return for the fake wedding, the gang stole cash worth one lakh rupees, along with a gold mangalsutra, and even forced the groom’s family to purchase wedding clothes. After the wedding, when Rupesh and his relatives tried to take the bride back to Mainpuri via the Muhammadabad railway station, the gang insisted they travel by bus instead of a train. Once they reached the bus station, the gang members absconded with the bride.
Upon discovering the bride had disappeared, the groom’s family contacted the police by dialing 112. The police responded quickly and brought them to the Muhammadabad police station. During interrogation, it was revealed that the incident had occurred in the jurisdiction of the Karimuddinpur police station. The victim’s family then filed a formal complaint at the Karimuddinpur police station.
The police took swift action and arrested Kumari Kusum, the fake bride, from Uchandi (Khizirpur) in the Karimuddinpur area. The father of the fake bride, Krishna Kant Ram, along with her alleged fake brother Karan Kumar Bhim Ram, fake sister Ranjana, Sonia alias Najmunisha, Geetadevi, and fake aunt Indu Devi were arrested from Bathor village and Parasa village in the Muhammadabad area. They were all charged and sent to court.
Station House Officer Virendra Kumar mentioned that this gang has been involved in such activities for a long time. The mastermind behind the operation, Harishchandra Yadav alias Sonia, has deceived and looted people from places such as Haryana, Rajasthan, Jaipur, and Uttar Pradesh by luring them into fake marriages. The police recovered seven Android phones and two keypad phones from the gang members. Cases have been filed against them under relevant sections, and they have been sent to court.
