Mahindra Launches 2 New Electric SUVs: BE 6e and XEV 9e, Set to Launch in January

Date:

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M) has introduced two new electric SUVs, the BE 6e and XEV 9e, with prices set at ₹18.9 lakh (ex-showroom) and ₹21.9 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. These models, part of Mahindra’s expanding electric vehicle portfolio, will be launched in January 2025, with deliveries scheduled to begin in February and March.

The BE 6e offers an impressive range of 682 km on a single charge, while the XEV 9e provides 656 km. Both SUVs are designed with a focus on long-distance travel, with the company claiming that the battery of these vehicles can last up to a week on a single charge, making them ideal for daily and long-range use.

The initial pricing announced is for the entry-level variants of both models. Mahindra has confirmed that more variants will be unveiled at a later date, with pricing for these models to be disclosed closer to the launch.

Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO of Mahindra & Mahindra’s auto and farm sectors, expressed confidence in the company’s competitive offering, emphasizing that the new models will carve out a new category in the electric SUV market.

The company also revealed plans for a phased rollout strategy, set to begin in late January 2025. To enhance the customer experience, Mahindra will be onboarding 500 specialists from luxury and premium brands to offer a pre-purchase test drive experience. Additionally, around 400 tech experts will focus on improving customer support, with dedicated assistance from Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai.

This announcement comes as part of Mahindra’s broader commitment to electric mobility, with an investment of over ₹12,000 crore earmarked for the development of electric vehicles. A new manufacturing line is being set up at the company’s Chakan plant, which will have an annual capacity of 1.2 lakh units. Currently, Mahindra’s electric vehicle lineup includes the XUV400.

With the launch of the BE 6e and XEV 9e, Mahindra aims to strengthen its presence in the fast-growing electric vehicle market in India.
