In a significant move toward women’s empowerment, the Madhya Pradesh government has raised the reservation quota for women in state government recruitment to 35%. The decision was finalized during a cabinet meeting held on Tuesday at the Mantralaya in Bhopal, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
The cabinet approved the increase in reservation from 33% to 35% for women across all state government services. Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla emphasized that this is a major step in empowering women and promoting gender equality in the state. He also highlighted that the decision was previously discussed and has now been officially ratified.

In addition to this key development, the cabinet took several other important decisions. One of the key announcements was the increase in the upper age limit for the recruitment of Assistant Professors in Medical Colleges, from 40 to 50 years. This move aims to provide greater opportunities for experienced professionals in the education sector. The cabinet also approved the establishment of 254 new fertilizer sales centres across the state to strengthen the agricultural supply chain.
Job Growth and Investment Initiatives
The cabinet meeting also focused on enhancing infrastructure and promoting industrial growth in the state. A major infrastructure project was approved with the green light for a new 660-megawatt thermal power plant in Sarni. The power plant is expected to improve energy efficiency and address the growing demand for power in Madhya Pradesh.
Additionally, Deputy CM Rajendra Shukla highlighted the state’s efforts to attract investment, pointing to the success of the recent Regional Industrial Conclave held in Rewa. The event saw participation from 4,000 investors and business leaders, resulting in investment proposals totaling Rs 31,000 crore. These investments are expected to generate around 28,000 new jobs across the state, contributing significantly to the state’s economic growth.
The Regional Industrial Conclave was part of the state’s larger initiative, the “Invest Madhya Pradesh-Global Investors Summit-2025” (GIS 2025), which will take place in Bhopal on February 7-8, 2025. The summit aims to position Madhya Pradesh as a key investment destination by showcasing its industrial potential, abundant natural resources, and favorable business environment.
Earlier editions of the Regional Industrial Conclave were held in Ujjain, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Sagar, and Rewa, with each event attracting investors and bolstering the state’s profile as an investment hub.
With these progressive moves, the Madhya Pradesh government is not only working toward gender equality but also fostering industrial growth and job creation to secure a prosperous future for the state.
