In a recent press conference, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale underscored the importance of Hindu unity and downplayed differences with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). His comments came in support of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s slogan, “Batenge to katenge” (Divided we fall), which highlights the need for solidarity within the Hindu community.
Hosabale characterized BJP President JP Nadda as “a brother from the same ideological family,” expressing that the RSS understands the essence of Nadda’s remarks, particularly in the context of the party’s autonomy in electoral matters. He noted that he had even dined at Nadda’s residence following the recent Lok Sabha elections.
During the meeting held in Mathura, Hosabale also addressed the necessity of regulating OTT platforms, akin to the film censor board, rather than exerting outright control.
Responding to queries about Adityanath’s slogan, Hosabale reiterated its underlying message: that unity is vital for the Hindu community to thrive and avoid division based on caste or creed. He stated, “If we become divided, we will be slaughtered. Unity is essential for any nation.”
Adityanath had previously invoked this slogan in August during an event in Agra, where he referenced unrest in neighboring Bangladesh to emphasize the perils of division. Hosabale affirmed that the pledge for Hindu unity remains a lifelong commitment of the RSS, encapsulating this sentiment in a few lines from a Sangh song.
The RSS leader’s statements reflect a strategic call for cohesion within Hindu society, reinforcing the organization’s long-standing mission of fostering unity in the face of societal challenges.
