Bomb Threats Disrupt Indian Airlines, Affecting 24 Flights Today

Date:

On Sunday, a total of 24 flights operated by Indian airlines, including IndiGo, Vistara, Air India, and Akasa Air, received bomb threats affecting both domestic and international routes.

IndiGo reported threats on various flights, including routes from Jeddah to Mumbai, Kozhikode to Dammam, Delhi to Istanbul, and several others. Vistara faced similar threats, impacting flights such as Delhi to Frankfurt and Singapore to Mumbai.

In response to these threats, both airlines promptly notified the relevant authorities and implemented heightened security measures. IndiGo emphasized that the safety of passengers and crew is its top priority, stating, “We are working closely with the relevant authorities and taking all necessary precautions.

“Akasa Air also confirmed receiving security alerts and reported that flight crews adhered to emergency protocols in coordination with local authorities. All affected aircraft underwent thorough inspections and have been cleared for operations.

This week has seen over 90 bomb threats reported across India, with most being classified as hoaxes. Civil aviation authorities and the Central government are treating the situation with utmost seriousness, pledging to take severe action against those responsible.

Asangba Chuba, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, stated, “The aviation regulator is taking this matter very seriously and is working towards effective solutions.” The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) held a meeting with airline representatives to address the situation. BCAS Director General Zulfiquar Hasan reassured the public, saying, “Indian skies are absolutely safe. The current protocols are robust and strictly followed. Passengers can fly without fear.”
