Following Rahul Gandhi’s decision to vacate the Wayanad seat, the Congress party has opted to field his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, for her electoral debut. Under the leadership of Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress has intensified its campaign efforts to improve upon Rahul Gandhi’s previous victory margin.
In addition to Haridas and Gandhi, the Communist Party of India (CPI), an ally in the opposition INDIA bloc, has announced Sathyan Mokeri as its candidate against Priyanka.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has scheduled the by-election for November 13, with results to be declared on November 23.
