Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu alleged on Saturday that Iranian-backed groups attempted to assassinate him and his wife after a drone targeted their residence. In a statement posted on X, he called the attack a “grave mistake,” asserting that it would not deter Israel from its ongoing efforts to secure its future against threats.

Netanyahu warned Iran and its proxies, stating, “Anyone who tries to harm Israel’s citizens will pay a heavy price.” He emphasized Israel’s commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring the safe return of hostages from Gaza, as well as the safety of citizens living near the northern border.
The Israeli military reported that a drone from Lebanon entered Israeli airspace and struck the town of Caesarea, reportedly aiming for Netanyahu’s home. Although Hezbollah has not officially claimed responsibility for the drone attack, they acknowledged conducting several rocket strikes on northern and central Israel.
This escalation comes as Israel prepares to respond to a recent attack linked to Iran, which supports both Hezbollah and Hamas. Additionally, Israeli aircraft dropped leaflets over southern Gaza, featuring an image of slain Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, with the message: “Hamas will no longer rule Gaza,” mirroring Netanyahu’s rhetoric.
