Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who has been tirelessly advocating for the release of her film emergency, has finally received a major boost with the film being granted a censor certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
On Thursday, Kangana took to her Instagram Stories to share the exciting news, stating, “We have received the certificate for our movie emergency. We will be announcing the release date soon. Thank you for your patience and support. @manikarnikafilms @zeestudiosofficial @nishantpitti.”
After Receiving Censor Certificate BJP MP Kangana Ranaut tweets on X too, She said”We are glad to announce we have received the censor certificate for our movie Emergency, we will be announcing the release date soon. Thank you for your patience and support”

The film, which explores the controversial era of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and the emergency period in India, has been at the center of public discussion due to its sensitive subject matter. It depicts significant historical events, including the assassination of Gandhi by her bodyguards.
Last month, the Bombay High Court directed the Censor Board to consider representations from Sikh bodies and groups that raised objections regarding the film’s content prior to its intended September 6 release. Following scrutiny, the CBFC’s examining committee granted a ‘UA’ certification but required the filmmakers to make three cuts and provide factual sources for certain controversial historical claims.
Among the suggested edits, the committee advised the removal or alteration of visuals depicting Pakistani soldiers attacking Bangladeshi refugees.
Emergency is set against the backdrop of India’s Emergency period from 1975 to 1977, during which civil rights and press freedoms were significantly curtailed. Kangana plays the role of Indira Gandhi, and the film also features notable actors including Shreyas Talpade, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhry, Anupam Kher, and Satish Kaushik, with the screenplay written by Ritesh Shah.
This project marks Kangana’s second directorial venture following her successful debut with Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi in 2019. Fans and followers are eagerly awaiting further updates regarding the film’s release date.
