Amit Shah: Developed India Will Be Free from Terrorism and Drugs by 2047

Date:

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Tuesday that by 2047, India will be a developed nation free from terrorism and drugs, with a strong internal security framework. Speaking to the 2023 batch of Indian Police Service (IPS) probationers in New Delhi, Shah expressed confidence that no one would dare to disrespect India’s borders or its soldiers.

He acknowledged past challenges, stating, “We faced massive movements and riots influenced by various foreign factors. Much of our energy was spent on maintaining peace in Jammu and Kashmir, the Northeast, and regions affected by Left Wing Extremism.” Shah noted that violence in these areas has been reduced by 70%, and Indian agencies now have significant control.

The Home Minister emphasized the crucial role of the police force in safeguarding citizens’ fundamental rights, reducing crime, and ensuring timely justice. He highlighted that 99% of police stations in India are now connected through the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS).

Regarding upcoming legal reforms, Shah stated that new criminal laws aim to ensure timely justice and improve conviction rates by leveraging technology. “The process has been made time-bound across 86 different aspects of policing, prosecution, and the judiciary,” he explained. He also mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first unit of these changes in Chandigarh in November, with nationwide implementation planned within five years.
