Naib Singh Saini will take oath as the CM of Haryana on October 17

Date:

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to form a government for a third consecutive term in Haryana, with Nayab Singh Saini taking oath as Chief Minister on October 17.

Union Minister and former Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar confirmed, “We have received the PM’s approval for the oath-taking ceremony, which will take place in Panchkula.” A 10-member committee, led by the Panchkula District Commissioner, has been established to oversee the event’s arrangements.

Nayab Singh Saini recently met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior BJP leaders in Delhi ahead of his anticipated swearing-in as the state’s new leader following the party’s successful assembly elections. He also met with Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who is in charge of the BJP’s election strategy in Haryana.

The BJP achieved its best-ever performance in the assembly polls, securing 48 seats, 11 more than the Congress. The JJP and AAP faced significant losses, while the INLD managed to win only two seats.

Notably, eight out of ten ministers in the outgoing Saini cabinet lost their seats in the elections. The two who won—Mahipal Dhanda and Mool Chand Sharma from Panipat Rural and Ballabhgarh, respectively—are considered strong candidates for ministerial positions in the new government. Haryana can accommodate a maximum of 14 ministers, including the Chief Minister.
