In response to the ongoing controversy surrounding priest Yati Narsinghanand’s derogatory comments about Prophet Muhammad, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized that any disrespectful remarks against saints and religious figures of any faith are unacceptable. He stated that those responsible for such comments will face punishment.
Adityanath stressed the need for mutual respect among all faiths, saying, “If anyone tampers with faith or makes derogatory remarks against revered figures, deities, or beliefs, they will be brought under the law and punished rigorously. It is essential for people of all sects and religions to respect one another.”
The Chief Minister made these remarks while reviewing law and order preparations with the Chief Secretary, DGP, and other officials ahead of upcoming festivals. He warned that “anarchy, vandalism, or arson in the name of protest will not be tolerated,” asserting that anyone engaging in such acts will face severe consequences.

Yati Narsinghanand, known for his controversial statements, sparked significant outrage with his recent remarks. An FIR has been filed against him, although his aides claim he has been detained in Ghaziabad—a statement that the UP police have yet to confirm.
Multiple Muslim organizations and political parties, including the BSP, National Conference, and Samajwadi Party, have called for Narsinghanand’s immediate arrest. Chief Minister Adityanath has directed police administrations to ensure that all districts and police stations facilitate peaceful celebrations during the upcoming festivals while taking strict action against any anti-social elements.
