Congress to Launch ‘Nyay Yatra’ in Delhi from october 23

Date:

The Congress party is set to kick off its ‘Nyay Yatra’ in Delhi on October 23, running until November 28. This campaign will unfold in four phases, strategically scheduled to coincide with the festive season in India. Speculation suggests that prominent party leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, may participate in the yatra.

The first phase of the yatra will take place from October 23 to October 28, followed by the second phase from November 4 to November 10. The third phase will run from November 12 to November 18, and the final phase will conclude from November 20 to November 28.

During the yatra, the Congress plans to highlight what it views as the failures of the BJP, which has held power at the Centre for three consecutive terms. The party intends to draw comparisons between the current situation in Delhi and the period of late Sheila Dikshit, under whose leadership as Chief Minister the city experienced substantial development.

A central theme of the yatra will be the ongoing tensions among the Modi government at the Centre, the Lieutenant Governor, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi government. The Congress will focus on critical issues such as the liquor policy scandal, corruption, and anti-development policies, asserting that the AAP government is obstructing progress in the national capital.

Through this initiative, the Congress hopes to regain political momentum in Delhi, where it has struggled against both the BJP and AAP since Sheila Dikshit’s defeat in 2013. With assembly elections in Delhi expected early next year, there is a possibility that the Election Commission could schedule polls sooner, especially following Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation as Chief Minister, which included calls for elections in November alongside those in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
