AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to urge Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to advocate for a ceasefire in the escalating conflict in the Gaza Strip. Owaisi’s request comes in light of the significant loss of life and displacement experienced by Palestinians due to ongoing violence.
At a public meeting, Owaisi emphasized the urgent humanitarian crisis, stating, “I urge PM Modi to ask Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu to push for a ceasefire. Though 12-15 lakh Palestinians have lost their homes, they are not afraid of death.” Owaisi has consistently voiced his support for Palestine, labeling the situation a humanitarian crisis that transcends religious lines. He condemned the actions of the Israeli government, referring to Netanyahu as a “devil” and a “war criminal,” and called for solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Recent reports from Al Jazeera indicate that the Israeli military has intensified its bombardment in the Jabalia refugee camp, resulting in the deaths of at least 17 individuals just hours after residents were forced to evacuate during a renewed ground assault. The Palestinian Civil Defence agency reported that the casualties included nine children due to airstrikes, as Israeli tanks were deployed in the area for the first time in months.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, the ongoing conflict, which escalated on October 7 of last year, has led to the deaths of at least 41,870 Palestinians and injuries to 97,166 others. Owaisi’s call for a ceasefire highlights the urgent need for action to address the humanitarian crisis facing the region.
