In a significant development linked to a massive drug recovery case valued at Rs 5,600 crore in Delhi, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police conducted targeted raids in Punjab. During these operations, police seized cocaine worth Rs 10 crore and confiscated a Fortuner car.
The raids took place in Nepal village, Amritsar, where authorities arrested Jitendra, alias Jassi, at Amritsar Airport. He was found with the cocaine. Reports suggest that the drugs seized in Delhi are also connected to Dubai, pointing to a broader international drug trafficking network.
The mastermind behind this syndicate is identified as Virendra Basoya, an Indian citizen. Following the discovery, Delhi Police issued a lookout circular against Basoya, his son, and several associates. The son is accused of providing logistical support to the syndicate.
Virendra Basoya has a history of arrests related to drug trafficking in India but reportedly shifted to Dubai after being granted bail, where he rose to prominence as a key figure in the international drug cartel. Investigations indicate that Basoya is closely linked with Tushar Goyal, another main accused in the case, and both are old acquaintances.
The recent operation marks one of the largest drug busts in Delhi, with authorities having previously seized over 560 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of hydroponic marijuana from the arrested suspects. The individuals apprehended include Tushar Goyal and Himanshu Kumar, both residents of Delhi, along with Aurangzeb Siddiqui and Bharat Kumar Jain from Mumbai.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities are delving deeper into the international connections of this drug syndicate, aiming to dismantle its extensive network.
