Vinesh Phogat expressed her excitement after exit polls predicted a favorable outcome for the Congress in Haryana. All seven exit polls suggest that the Congress party is set to win a significant 55 out of 90 seats, while the BJP is projected to secure just 26 seats in the state known for its sporting talent.
Phogat, a celebrated sportsperson making her electoral debut on a Congress ticket, stated, “It is a very happy day for the people of Haryana. Everyone has participated in this change by voting in large numbers. The change that Haryana was looking for has come about through the people’s efforts, reflecting the struggles they endured over the past decade.”
As the Congress aims to build on its momentum from the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the party appears poised to unseat the BJP, which has held power in the state for the last ten years. While the BJP has dismissed claims of anti-incumbency, asserting its confidence in returning to power, exit polls present a different narrative. The Congress has previously labeled the BJP’s decade-long rule as a “decade of pain.”

Phogat emphasized, “The people have avenged the oppression they faced over the last ten years. Today, they fulfilled their pledge to challenge the BJP. I thank the Congress party, and Haryana is grateful to them.”
With the exit polls favoring Congress, discussions are already underway regarding the next chief minister. When asked about the matter, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda stated that the decision lies with the party’s “high command,” referring to Congress’s top national leadership.
Current Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini remains confident despite the exit polls, asserting that the BJP will form the government once again. “Haryana has witnessed the work we have done in the last ten years. We have eliminated regionalism and dynastic politics. We are confident that the BJP will secure a third term in Haryana,” Saini remarked.
