The Election Commission reported a voter turnout of 69.69% in the third phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, with women surpassing men in participation.
On October 1, when 40 seats were contested, the overall turnout across polling stations stood at 63.88%, a notable increase compared to 58.58% during the Lok Sabha elections. The breakdown revealed that male voters participated at a rate of 69.37%, while female turnout reached 70.02%. Additionally, nearly 44% of voters from the third gender category cast their votes.
In terms of overall participation, the Election Commission noted that male voters contributed 64.68% to the total, while female participation was recorded at 63.04%. The turnout for the third gender was 38.24%.
Final vote counts will be available following the completion of counting, including postal ballots. These postal ballots encompass votes from service members, absentee voters (such as those over 85 years of age, persons with disabilities, and essential service workers), as well as those on election duty. The Election Commission stated that daily updates on the postal ballots received will be provided to all candidates in accordance with established guidelines.
