In a heartbreaking incident on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, 10 people lost their lives and three others sustained serious injuries when a speeding truck collided with a tractor trolley transporting laborers on the Prayagraj-Varanasi highway in Mirzapur district.
According to Mirzapur Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhinandan, the collision occurred around 1 AM on GT Road as the laborers were returning to their homes in Varanasi after completing rooftop laying work in Bhadohi. The truck struck the tractor trolley from behind near Kacchwa on the highway.
All the deceased were reported to be residents of villages within the Mirzamurad police station limits in Varanasi. The injured individuals, identified as Aakash (18), Jamuni (26), and Ajay Saroj (50), are currently receiving treatment at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) hospital, where their conditions are reported to be stable. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination.
